One of the most important policies of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is that the organizers do not need to approve the performances. To participate in the festival, an artist only needs to find a venue that will host their show. This rule has two effects. First, there are many unusual performances. Second, the festival can offer more than 3,000 different shows every year. Since there are so many shows taking place at the same time, the choice of venues also becomes very interesting.
