It is rare for a debut novel to enjoy as much success as Bonnie Garmus’ Lessons in Chemistry. The book was published in April 2022 and soon became an international bestseller. In the following year, it was adapted into a TV series with Academy Award-winning actress Brie Larson in the lead role. Lessons in Chemistry takes place in the 1960s. It tells the story of Elizabeth Zott, a female chemist trying to make her way in the academic world. She faces many challenges and is forced to leave her job when she becomes pregnant.
