1. 人们产生的大量垃圾对环境造成了严重威胁。

可译为：The large amount of garbage people produce poses a serious threat to the environment.

译题密技：

 the large / small amount of + 不可数名词　　大量的∕少量的……

 名词 amount 表「数量」，一般搭配不可数名词使用，the large / small amount of... 作主词时，其后动词要用第三人称单数动词。
字词加油站：

 a. garbage　n. 垃圾（集合名词，不可数）

 b. produce　vt. 制造，生产

 c. pose a threat to...　　对……造成威胁

2. 因此，回收的重要性再怎么强调都不为过。

可译为：Therefore, the significance of recycling cannot be overemphasized.

译题密技：

 ... cannot be overemphasized　　……再怎么强调也不为过

 cannot be overemphasized 表「再怎么强调也不为过；愈强调愈好」，等同于 cannot be emphasized too much。
