Nolan’s unique storytelling style is the reason why his films appeal to many people. He often takes popular film styles like sci-fi or superhero movies and then adds his own creative twists to them. Nolan’s movies have some common themes. Many of them deal with the ideas of time, memory, and dreams. In Memento, the story is told backwards to reflect the main character’s amnesia. Characters in Inception can enter people’s dreams. In Dunkirk, Nolan takes a different approach. He plays with audiences’ sense of time by switching between different time periods.
