Avanos, a town in Turkey, is historically known for its production of pottery. However, it has become famous in recent years for a special reason—The Hair Museum of Avanos. Set up in 1979 by a local potter named Galip, this museum is located under his pottery shop, Chez Galip. It began when a female friend of Galip was leaving to return to her home country. This saddened him so deeply that the woman cut off a piece of her own hair for him to keep as a memento.
