The temple of Phra Prang Sam Yod, home to many monkeys, was built in the 13th century in a heavily forested area in Lopburi. As the city developed around the temple, the local monkeys stuck around. Over time, they became used to people. However, despite the respect that people have for their monkey neighbors, things are not always harmonious. In recent years, the monkeys have caused serious problems for tourists and locals alike.
